Color analysis glossary
What is chroma in color analysis?
Chroma is the intensity or purity of color your face can carry — from soft and muted to bright and clear. It's the third axis of color analysis, alongside undertone and value.

Soft (low-chroma) people suit dusty, muted, blended colors; bright, pure colors overpower them. Clear (high-chroma) people suit vivid, saturated, jewel-like colors and look washed out in muted ones.
Chroma separates seasons like Soft Summer (muted) from Clear Winter (vivid). Matching your chroma is what keeps a color from looking either too 'loud' or too 'dirty' against your skin.

Frequently asked
- What's the difference between chroma and value?
- Value is how light or dark a color is; chroma is how pure or muted it is. A color can be deep but soft (low chroma) or light but vivid (high chroma) — they're independent axes.
